Outsourcing is one of the little known secrets of the most successful online marketers. Sure, it can be tough to do when you’re first starting out. But once you start making some money, the smart thing to do is invest it BACK into your business. You invest in tools to save you time, advertising, marketing, etc. Outsourcing is just a tool.
And it benefits YOU by giving you more time for marketing, promoting, product creation, and anything else you can do to grow your business.
Many people just starting out online need to outsource more than they realize.
For example, you decide to put up a site about dog grooming. Maybe you know all there is to know about the subject if you’ve been doing it for 10 years. So writing content for it should be easy.
But you have one big problem…
You know nothing about web design or graphics. This can be a huge obstacle to getting your site up.
What are your options?
You can learn how to do it. Sure. Take some courses in web design or buy a few books. You can buy some templates… that LOTS of other people have! That’s not a good idea since you need to position your self as being unique.
You can take some graphic design courses or buy books about it and teach your self. And doing this will cost you money. Right?
So if this is going to cost money anyway… simply outsource it!
The above scenario is quite common. Just think about your own situation and you may see how much outsourcing will help you.
The same with writing web copy, sales letter copy, or any kind of copy. There’s a right and a wrong way to do it. You’ll find quite a range of copy fees involved. But there are people out there who are good enough and don’t charge high fees.
Are you getting my point?
So many people let opportunities pass by because they don’t have certain skills and refuse to outsource. They think it costs too much money or they’re afraid to let someone else touch their project.
You DO need to take some precautions when you outsource. Just use some common sense. Thoroughly check out the person you’re considering. Ask for verifiable references. Ask people in forums about sites and people. But still check out everyone. Don’t pay for the entire project upfront. Have them sign a contract.
To find somebody to outsource your work to, look for someone who specializes in one thing. Yes, there are lots of people who can do a number of things. But those who specialize in just one thing… such as ebook cover design or sales copy, are usually very good at it. Those are the people you want to find when you plan on outsourcing.
One other thing you should consider is to find out if they have a partner and if not, is there a way to contact someone else in case of a problem that takes them away from the work.
This may sound cold but it’s not.
It’s just business and you should always have a backup plan. Things happen and you should be prepared. Otherwise, you’re stuck with a project that can’t be completed until you find somebody else to do it. And in the case of a written contract you may have some difficulty doing that.
At the very least you should think about what outsourcing can do for you. It’s what all the marketing elite do and there’s a very good reason for it.
