Laser liposuction or lipoplasty is a modern cosmetic surgery procedure for removing fat deposits under your skin by the use of high energy laser light. Using a laser instead of the traditional needle has several advantages.

Before the surgery starts a local anesthesia is applied to the targeted area. Thereafter the cosmetic surgeon puts a cannula under your skin in order to be able to suck out the melted fat.

The surgeon can work fast and efficiently with the laser and the procedure can be done in just 30 minutes for a small area. An extensive laser liposuction for a bigger area of your body can also take two hours.

Depending on how long the surgery lasts, how much fat was removed and on how many different areas of your body it was applied, the costs can range between $1,000 for smaller areas to $10,000 for an extensive fat removal surgery.

The advantage with laser lipo is that it can be used for many different areas of your body. There are popular areas like the thighs and the stomach area but there are also more sensible areas which are great for the laser like the neck, arms or even the face.

While the laser is removing the fat by melting it, the traditional procedure works by inserting a needle that sucks the fat cells out. The disadvantage with this method is the risk of a bigger damage and blood loss.

For this reason the laser has become more popular. Today laser lipo is the most popular cosmetic surgery procedure and performed a thousand times every month. Demand for surgical fat removal, which is also known as lipoplasty or liposculpture, is steadily increasing.

With more than 100,000 liposuction surgery performed each and every year, liposuction and especially laser liposuction has become a very safe and successful way of fat removal. Many people confuse it with a weight loss strategy but liposuction is not an effective weight loss method long term.

Removing very large amounts of fat can lead to serious complications and even death. Although the laser works more gentle, each surgery still means a damage to the body. There is also the problem of skin elasticity. Best results are achieved if not more than 10 pounds are removed.

For best success you should be in good shape and in good health condition and only remove fat in limited amounts.
