There are a lot of people in this country that refuse to consider teaching their children Spanish while they are young.  For some reason, they believe teaching children a second language while they are still learning English that language will confuse them and interfere with their ability to properly learn English.  Of course, these parents are completely wrong, because teaching children a second language actually benefits them in many ways.

There have been many studies done that prove children who learn Spanish with methods like learn to speak Spanish audio CDs actually do better academically than children that were not taught a second language.  Standardized test scores like the SATs also prove this fact.  In 2006, students that had had spent at least four years studying a foreign language scored higher on the Critical Reasoning sections than students that had not.

Another thing to keep in mind is the fact that Spanish is now the third most spoken language in the world.  English now trails behind at fourth.  In the United States, the number of native Spanish speaker is growing rapidly as Latin population continues to grow and their culture becomes more main-stream.

The world of tomorrow is going to be a much different place than the world of today.  Parents that fail to realize this and prepare their children for life in a global society are setting their children up for failure.  Teaching children to speak Spanish while they are still young will increase their options, as well as their earnings potential and marketability in the workforce of tomorrow.

Children who learn to speak everyday Spanish will have other advantages as well.  Not only will their fluency in Spanish allow them to effectively communicate with millions of Spanish speaking people, it will allow them to get the most out of their travels to Spanish speaking countries.  It will also enable them to enjoy and fully appreciate Spanish literature and films.
