Nowadays, everyone is looking for the fastest way to build muscle and it seems like every exercise program you see promises to be the key to doing just that.  Of course, many of these programs are nothing but hype, so how do you tell the good programs from the bad ones?  The first think to do is to look for a program that follows the five basic rules of muscle building.

1.  Cardio Does Not Build Muscle

With the exception of swimming, conventional cardio does not build muscle.  Cardio exercises like running and biking are just not intense enough to fatigue muscles to the point that is necessary for muscle-building metabolic reactions to occur.

2.  Eat More Meat

You should eat more meat when you are trying to build up muscle mass.  That’s because meat, especially red meat, is full of protein that supplies muscle building nutrients and energy to your body.  There are other good sources of protein, but red meat is definitely the way to go if you are looking for the fastest way to build muscle.

3.  Multiple Muscle Groups Are Key

If you want to build up muscle mass fast, you need to target multiple muscle groups all at once.  The more muscles you target and stress, the greater the metabolic reaction you activate.  The increased metabolic reaction results in an increased build up of muscle mass.

4.  Heavier Weights Equal Bigger Gains

If you want maximum muscle gains, then you need to maximize your workouts.  The most effective way to do this is to kick up the intensity level of your workouts by lifting heavier weights.  You build up muscle mass faster with low repetitions of heavy weights than with high repetitions using lighter weights.

5.  Let Your Muscles Recover

Working out every single day is not the fastest way to build muscle.  It’s a good way to really damage your body.  Your body is not a machine, and you must give it time to properly recover from workouts.  If your muscles are not allowed to rest and recover, then they can weaken and become more susceptible to injury.

Forget about people that ignore this rule and train hard everyday.  Just because they look strong and healthy does not mean that they are. Think about all of the idiots that use steroids.  Sure they look great for awhile, but they are actually doing irreparable harm to their bodies.  Pay no attention to these people and make sure to give your body plenty of recovery time.

Programs that incorporate these five important rules of muscle building are probably not going to be very useful to those of you looking for the fastest way to build muscle.  So make sure that you take the time to find one that does, otherwise you will have a very difficult time achieving significant muscle gains.
