One of the most challenging aspects of being in a home based business is encouraging people to join with you without giving a high pressure sales pitch.  Some people do it naturally while others really struggle, despite the best of intentions.  Fine tuning our skills allow us to extend our offer without being high pressure.  Here are some tips to make the process easier:

1.  Let your prospects know upfront that once you present your information, their decision is 100% ok with you.  Tell them that you understand that it’s their job to decide if this will be a good fit for them.  This allows them to let their guard down, and keeps you relaxed because you are not pressured inside to get them to join.

2.  Understand that the Home Based business industry is still in it’s infancy and there are 100 million people a year looking for a Home Based business!  The market is vast - you don’t need that particular prospect to join for you to have have success!

3.  Don’t be attached to the outcome of your conversation.  If inside you are focused on their joining or the money you will make when they come on board, then don’t bother calling.  Your job is not to get them to join - your job is to present the information.  Focusing on the outcome communicates desperation not confidence, and will repel not attract them to your business.  While you want this desire, you can’t make it a goal because all the aspects are not under your control.

4.  Stay in the game by surrounding yourself with things that you enjoy.  Focus on the positives of life, the things for which you are grateful.  Insecurity demands that your prospect make you feel good which is not good for them or you.  Being positive about life makes draws them in with you!

5.  Find their reason for being interested in a Home Based business.  Most people have a deeper reason driving their interest.  This can be a desire for a better life, more time with family, financial freedom.  Understanding their reason, knowing how it fits with your business, and connecting the two can yield wonderful results for you and your prospect.

6.  Know your own purpose for why you are doing what you are doing.  Even if you don’t love sales, if you know why you are doing it, you will communicate passion and enthusiasm which is infectious!

7.  Be aware of what is going on inside of you before you call - and deal with it!  If you are desperate, upset, doubtful, you will communicate that in your voice and your prospect will feel it.  Instead, focus on what is going well, the things you are grateful for and let it be a good place that you are coming from.
