In this article I will discuss some helpful tips to build your network of friends and business associates. The first thing would be to comment on other peoples profiles. If you have business associates who use facebook or are a fan of an individual who has a profile setup on Facebook, comment on it. Let them know you were stopping by to say hello. Offer some good advice if you know them well. Ask them about their weekend. If you don’t know the person your commenting on, just say hi and that you enjoyed reading about them in their profile.

If your going to launch a new service or start a new business, create and list it as an event. Have your friends and associates RSVP for the event. This is a good way to get feedback from your guests if they will attend and if they have requests for more information.

Send your friends or associates virtual gifts. This is your way of showing your appreciation for them. You can choose from hundreds of 3rd party applications like a bouquet of flowers that sits on your friends profile and grows over time. This technique helps to build trust and loyalty among your friends and associates.

Use music, trivia, games, movies, and more cool applications to stay in touch with your friends and associates. Inviting your friends and associates through these applications helps you to build rapport and strengthen the relationship you have with them.

Start a community of people that share the same interest as you. This will help you build your image and business using Facebook. You will essentially have a group of people completely connected to you. This is almost the equivalent to having a mailing list. You can send them information, write messages to them, offer advice or something of value. This is the most under-utilized technique for growing your business on a social network.

Facebook is a great place to introduce yourself to a ton of new people who may also become customers and/or clients. Just keep one thing in mind: don’t get too carried away and spend all your time there. Facebook is a tool, part of your marketing strategy. Use the tips above, use them wisely and have a little fun at the same time.  Facebook can be a great tool and should be part of your online marketing strategy. Use the tips I just gave you to introduce yourself to a ton of new individuals. These individuals just may become a potential customer, client, or long lasting friend.
