Today if you are looking for a completely natural way of treating your acid reflux then why not give the acid reflux and vinegar method a try.  Although there are plenty of over the counter along with prescription medications one can use for treating this condition.  The problem is that many of them come with side effects which can result in other medical problems or which could make your condition worse.

This is probably one of the main reasons why so many people are now preferring to rely on natural remedies over conventional medications.  Plus they are also far cheaper to buy than conventional types of medication that you can buy.  In this article we look at why some people are now considering trying to use vinegar as a way of treating their acid reflux problems.

But even though you will find plenty of stories on the internet at acid reflux forums where people are describing the success they have with using vinegar to treat it.  Yet, there are plenty of people who will think how can this be so as vinegar is acidic and therefore rather than improving the problem it should be exacerbating the acid reflux further.

There are some people who have found this treatment effective because rather than their stomachs producing too much acid it is not producing enough.  When this happens the stomach finds it difficult to digest the food that a person has eaten and what is left over is provided with a space where it can ferment.  As fermentation takes place so there is an increase in acidity levels and this in turn results in acid reflux occurring.

Yet if this person then chooses to start consuming extra vinegar preferably the apple cider variety they find it can help them to digest the food correctly.  When this happens then the chances of the acid reflux symptoms occurring is greatly reduced.  But although it seems to work, as yet no tests have been carried out to prove that this is the case.

The main reason why this treatment seems to work is that the vinegar you consume is able to mimic the acid levels in ones stomach.  Because of this, your stomach is then able too much easily and more readily breakdown and digest the food you have consumed and which in turn can be absorbed by your body.

If you are thinking about using vinegar to help treat your acid reflux problems you should discuss the matter with your doctor first.  When you do use it you need to take around 1 tablespoon before each meal you eat.  For some people who have used this form of treatment they have found that their symptoms have become much better after only three days.  Whilst for others who have carried on taking vinegar prior to each meal for any length of time (3 to 9 months) have found that their acid reflux symptoms have completely disappeared.

However, it is important to note that although quite a large number of people have found this course of treatment effective.  There are plenty of others who have tried the acid reflux and vinegar method only to see no good results whatsoever, and in a few cases it has exacerbated the problem for them.
