Are there some things in your home based business that just scare you to death? That causes you to procrastinate? That makes you immobile and feel like a failure? Is that word FEAR? Don't let fear hold you back; let it be your motivator. Here is a little advice from someone just like you on how to move past those fears and create success in your home based business.
You have nothing to fear but fear itself...that’s what mom said. Fear as defined in Wikipedia “is an emotional response to tangible and realistic dangers. Fear should be distinguished from anxiety, an emotion that often arises out of proportion to the actual threat or danger involved, and can be subjectively experienced without any specific attention to the threatening object.” Now I listen to my network marketing community F ‘false E ‘evidence A ‘appearing R ‘real. What the heck does that really mean?
Whatever, most people don’t want to talk about it or admit they have fears. And when it comes to your home business there are aspects you watch others do so well and wonder why you can’t do those same things. FEAR............define it anyway you want but you know what it is to you deep in your gut.
I’ll admit I have some fears...copy writing! I lose all perspective when I have to write a sales page, email or some sort of ad. I fear I don’t know the right words to say that will entice my target market to buy my product. And that has a lot to do with why I do what I do.
The other one is video’s for blogging and sales. Podcasting...I hate to listen to myself on tape and even worse I look old on video. I know I get over these fears soon, at least I hope I will since this is the future of marketing.
So I’m not one to give advice here but this is how I am addressing my fears!
Baby steps...I make lists. If I don’t have a list I can mark things off I will forget or procrastinate. I list all the things I need to have or do to get that fearful task accomplished.
Then the big step, I take action. I say to myself “Oh, stop being a baby and just do it.” So if making a video is the task of the day I just get it done. I may take 50 million takes, but I will eventually do some work I am happy with.
But that simple decision to take action is monumental, especially if you really do follow through and get it done. There are no benefits to failing to take action. Taking action means you might fail or you might succeed, but having tried is a great self esteem booster.
Even when my voice is hoarse and I can’t say one more word; it feels great to have tried. I may not use one of those 50 million takes, but I did it and I learned something very valuable no matter how nervous it made me feel.
Sometimes fear is a good thing. If you’re fearful of your business finances, you should be, if you’re evaluating a joint venture with someone most people think is less than honest, think again, your reputation is at stake. These are good things to fear.
However, when something in your home business makes you feel a little uncomfortable that only means your challenging your limitations. You may not always be successful but with every attempt you grow. And with personal growth comes business growth.
