My client appreciation celebration is one of the most rewarding professional endeavors I undertake each year. Of all networking events, the high degree of brilliance and aliveness is so wonderful to behold. And you?
One of the most rewarding professional endeavors that I undertake is an annual ‘Client Appreciation’ celebration. It is a true delight for me to see so many clients all in one place. These are individuals who commit themselves daily to being a little (or a lot) better tomorrow than they were yesterday.
Seeing them all in one place, I couldn’t help but ask myself “What separates these folks from the rest?I could see it immediately. There was an undeniable ‘aliveness’. When they laughed, it was spontaneous, loud and decidedly ‘real.’. The conversations were gregarious yet sincere. All of the clients listened intently and with great interest in the conversations going on.
Many of them had never met one another because much of the coaching is over the phone, yet their commonality was obvious. This wasn’t a typical networking event. Other traits that stood out: a passion to learn and to live, work and play at life to the fullest. In other words, these folks were tenacious.
For some time I have known that the most brilliant among us have the most to learn. What is it that motivates a person to unfold becoming brilliant? Brilliant people become that way through a sheer passion to learn. And, the more they know, the more doors open to them for more learning allowing them to become even more brilliant. How exhilarating!
These ‘alive’ individuals demonstrate tenacity across the board, not only in learning new things. The were all employed in management positions and this meant that they all cared enough to direct the show even if it would have been easier to watch someone else do it. They look for ways to make a difference, large or small. They believe in themselves enough to know that their opinion matters. They truly care.
There are others out there who are satisfied with status quo and that is fine for them. They create symmetry for the rest of us. I am blessed, fortunate, and beyond lucky to work with individuals who are willing to commit their time, money and hearts into making their world, thus our world a better place.
This week look around you. Do you know those areas where you are tenacious: sticking firmly to a decision, plan or option without changing or doubting it)? In doing so, how are you making life easier, better, more prosperous for even one other individual? Acknowledge yourself for making this difference.
Next step, acknowledge and appreciate those whose tenacity is making a difference for you! There is no denying that what goes around comes around.
Try to focus in on your own celebration of appreciation for your own tenacity this week. Have a great week with your new discoveries!
