Increasing link popularity for your site is the one of the best ways to gain better rankings for your site in the search engines - but in order to be effective, you need to build links to your site as naturally and “search engine” friendly as possible. So if you want to dominate the first page of the search engines, read on to find out easy it can be.
As marketers we’re mainly interested in traffic from Google, Yahoo and MSN, and they all use the link popularity of your site to determine how well your will rank and therefore how much traffic it will receive. They also know exactly how to check if you are using automated or “black hat” techniques to get links - and if they think you are, all those links will be ignored and discarded.
The key aspect to focus on when getting backlinks to your site is to make it look as natural as possible - by that I mean don’t get lots of links in the first week, then nothing in the following weeks. That’s like waving a big red flag at the search engines saying “this site’s using automated link building systems - please ignore all incoming links”.
There’s nothing wrong with getting hundreds of links in week 1, so long as you keep it up week after week. What I’m going to share here are 4 simple techniques you can start using today to build your link popularity naturally and safely, and with some automation.
These 4 link popularity or link building techniques can be described as:
The right way to use article directories for high PR incoming text links. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of submitting to web directories. Natural looking “semi automated” tools you can use to gain hundreds of unique backlinks from one article. Link popularity from blogging.
In the first part of this series I want to cover the easiest technique which you can start to use today. This involves using articles for linking, but will also generate some fast traffic from the hordes of article directories we’re going to have access to. But don’t flake out thinking you’re heard all about article marketing before - this is a very new, unique and highly effective twist on a proven method.
There’s 2 parts to my article marketing strategy - part 1 is where I submit unique articles to the top article directories (see the list below). Part 2 is where I use a fairly new software application that will create unique (and humanly readable) versions of my article and submit them to over 600 different “second tier” article directories. Since I’ve been using it, this software has been responsible for some very lucrative first page listings for my web sites.
Part 1 of this technique is to submit unique articles (either written by yourself or outsourced if you prefer) to the top 7 authority article directories. I refer to them as authority sites as they are all seen as high quality sites by the top search engines, and have high PR in Google. So a backlink from these sites to yours carries a lot of weight towards increasing your sites link popularity. The sites I refer to are:
Helium.com BigArticles.com PheedCentral.com EzineArticles.com ArticlesFactory.com SearchWarp.com GoArticles.com
That’s a total of 7 unique articles so far, and all these sites are seen as “authority” sites in the eyes of Google - which means they’ll provide a high value backlink to your site.
Part 2 of this technique is to use a fairly new semi-automated software application called Unique Article Wizard (see below for more details). This application will take a single article and submit it to over 600 separate and unique article directories.
The beauty is that as these directories include your article on their site, your links start to grow in a very natural and search engine friendly manner - so all your backlinks count to increasing your link popularity.
And the really neat twist is that UAW will submit a completely unique version of your article to each directory. It does this in a way to ensure every article is readable with no gobble-de-gook or machine generated content (see how below). So each of the directories it submits to gets a unique version of your article - not some machine generated or pseudonym replaced mumbo jumbo that no-one would ever want to read.
This in itself is a huge benefit since the top 3 search engines started filtering out duplicate content on the web. This basically means that if you submit the same article to 10, 20 or even hundreds of sites, the search engines will ignore all but the first version of your article it finds - so instead of having hundreds of backlinks from those article sites, you’d be left with just 1. Not so with this software - every link counts.
Parts 2, 3 and 4 of this series will be out soon so watch out for them. Alternatively, to make sure you get immediate notification when they are published, sign up for my free newsletter at Octocat.com where I also share tips and techniques I use in my affiliate marketing business every day.
