Expressing Your True Self - Marching To Your Own Drum

Unleash your powerful inner potential. Learn to listen carefully to those intuitive hunches because they are directing you to discover and appreciate your unique special gifts and talents.

By Sharon A Michaels

As children, we are often warned about the dangers of risk taking.  We’re taught to play it safe and protect ourselves from hidden dangers.  “Be careful, play nice, don’t touch, you’ll never be able to do that, who do you think you are?”

People who find and live their life’s purpose take risks!

How do you begin coming out of your comfort zone and taking those risks?

· Start listening to your inner voice.  When you begin getting a picture or “inkling” of your life’s purpose, don’t talk yourself out of it.  Let the picture form and then explore the possibilities.

· As your inner voice begins bringing a life’s purpose into focus, feel the excitement.  Your excitement becomes contagious.  Make lists and write out the new ideas that start flowing.  You’ll find yourself filled with new and exciting possibilities.

· Be patient with yourself and enjoy the moment.  Take one step at a time.  Don’t sabotage yourself by allowing the unknown to frighten or overwhelm you.

· Focus on what you want to happen.  Picture the best-case scenario.  Negativity breeds negativity, focus on the positive.  Use visualization exercises to help picture the future.

Growing means risking.  Allow yourself to go forward with out knowing exactly what you’ll find.

Why invest your time and effort learning to take a risk?  Because:

1. Risk-taking for self-development can be energizing and exciting.

2. Risk-taking means facing old fears and taking control of your destiny.

3. Risk-taking means becoming more pro-active in your life.

4. Risk-taking means coming out of your comfort zone and going for your dreams!

Here are some ideas for tapping into your “inner voice” and listening to your intuition.  Freeing your creativity to think BIG and see the BIG picture means knowing how to use your intuition.  You can’t force yourself to feel intuitive but you can invite intuition into your life.

Here are some ways to tune into your “gut feelings.”

BELIEVE - It helps to believe the mind can work on levels you may not yet be aware of.  Believe that insight and inner knowing can come from you and to you.  Leave your mind open to the possibilities.

BREAK NORMAL PATTERNS - Rigid, structured, habitual patterns of thinking and behavior can turn off your intuition.  Leave your mind open to new potentials and forgotten dreams.  Learn to expect the unexpected!
