This is a technique you may remember from your school days… reading aloud. You are able to hear the tone of voice, pronunciations of new words, and so forth. In this way, you are actually realizing a much greater benefit, in that you are being exposed to nuances of language twice in one sitting.
In the end, books on tape can be used for a multitude of reasons and in various ways. From using it to get caught up on what you have been wanting to read but never had the time to using books on tape to aid comprehension, millions of listeners the world over have turned to books on tape. And since you can get them virtually anywhere, even online, there is no excuse for not being able to try books on tape.
