Having made my living online working in my boxers, often times people, like my attorney friend did after church on Sunday, come up to me and express there dissatisfaction with working in their chosen career. They are usually wondering if I can recommend something for them.

Being a little curious, I asked him what the problem seemed to be. He said that all through law school he wondered if this was going to be something he really wanted to do long term. He said that not only has he giving up a huge amount of time from his family, he felt like he needed to take a shower everyday when he got home.
Not being entirely sure what he meant, I asked him if he could explain a little further. He said that the bottom line was that his firm was paid for results, and many times, that meant bending an interpretation a little more that he was comfortable.
He continued explaining that he had been with his firm for 9 years now and that he felt a little trapped. He said that he mode a sizeable amount of money and did not think that it would be easy to replace, or he said smiling, make more. Then he said that he and his wife had talked several times about the fact that I work from home and thought that we sure would like the idea. I even read a book on the topic, but I did not feel I really had a niche market.
I was amazed at how much time he had spent thinking about all of this. He went on to explain that since he was a little boy, he had always wanted to travel and see things that he read about for himself. He said that he thought that it would be wonderful to explore these things with his wife and kids. He said that his wife’s father was in the service and she had traveled and lived in many different places. He said quite frankly, he was jealous.
I said to him quite honestly that I had many people come up to me in the past with similar expressions of dissatisfaction, but that I could see that he had really thought this through. Then I asked him if he had any money to start a business? He paused for a second, and then said that him and his wife have been talking about saving more money, but he never really made it a priority. Then he said that he did have a little money, but he said he had heard that franchises take over 6 figures to start, and that he did not have that kind of money.
I asked him if he knew that the average successful business owner has paid with 5 failed businesses, at least one bankruptcy, one failed marriage and a whole lot of blood sweat and tears. He said he kind of hoped that he could skip a few of those payments. He said that is why he wanted to talk with me and see if I would be willing to mentor him through a few of the pitfalls and see if we could not help him get on the fast track.
I asked him if he knew that travel was the fastest growing industry and that it was already doing over 5 trillion dollars a year in business. He said, “Wow, I had no idea. That would be like a dream come true to make a living in that field.” I told him that some famous people like Clark Howard had started in travel. I said that I had been looking into it myself and that maybe we could work on something together.
