Christmas is one of many people's favorite holidays. It's a time of year for family, food and fun. It's a time for celebrating, giving and saying thanks. For many it's a time of prayer to their Creator and thanks for being alive and well.

Christmas is one of many people’s favorite holidays. It’s a time of year for family, food and fun. It’s a time for celebrating, giving and saying thanks. For many it’s a time of prayer to their Creator and thanks for being alive and well.

One thing which is commonly associated with Christmas is the giving of gifts. More people give presents at this time of year than any other time of the year. Tradition has the act of gift-giving going back since the time of Jesus’ birth. Boys and girls today look forward to Santa Claus making that trip down the chimney and bringing them goodies.

But Christmas isn’t just for kids and many adults hold on to this custom as well giving gifts to their friends, family and loved ones. Families gather around the Christmas tree on Christmas Day for Christmas celebrations and gift exchanges. They bring tokens of affection to their loved ones and exchange them on this day. Even people who don’t believe in Christmas celebrate the holiday season with holiday celebrations and “winter festivals”.

Christmas celebrations aren’t all about gifts, however. There are many more important details that go into this great holiday season. For some people, their favorite part is being able to decorate their homes or workplaces with great Christmas and holiday dcor. Many enjoy the Christmas carols, plays and drinking warm cocoa around the fireplace. Whatever your Christmas tradition, make it a fun one each and every year.

Another big part of Christmas celebration is Christmas card giving. People send Christmas cards with well wishes to their family and friends that are close by and those that are far away. It’s a wonderful feeling to get a loving card from someone far away that you won’t be able to see for the holidays.

Another idea that has taken on popularity, especially in recent generations is the Christmas Party. Most everyone agrees with a reason to party and Christmas celebration is one favorite. The party may be big or small, simple or elaborate, long or short but as long as you have a great time, all is well.

You can plan your own Christmas party, family get-together or holiday event. It’s easy and fun to do. Your Christmas party can be as simple or elaborate as you want. You may invite many people or only a few close friends. You may have food and dancing, movies, decorations, paid entertainment or whatever else works for you and yoru party. The most important thing to have is a great Christmas spirit.

Many different countries celebrate Christmas with different cultures and customs. You can study Christmas around the world and learn more about these many different Christmas celebrations. For example, did you know that the Christmas flower in the British Isles is the white rose? Some countries don’t celebrate Christmas on the same date that we do and some even have week long celebrations. In Italy, Christmas begins on December 1st and is celebrated throughout the month.

Most families find that over the years they create their own customs and traditions that become part of that family’s Christmas celebrations. This is one of the things that makes this holiday so special. Most everyone has great memories of their family and the things that you do together each year.
