Laganas Town On Zante Island (zykanthos) In Greece
Wonderful Island in Greece, Laganas offers many things for many types of people, from nightlife, to relaxing beaches, even nature conservation, great shallow beaches for safe children fun.
Laganas lies on the South East side of Zykanthos or Zante Island, in Greece. It is very close Kefelonia which is better known for the Mandolin.
Laganas has a large bay, with gently sloping beaches, wonderful for kids to play on, you need to go out a long way to get out of your depth here, the water is clean and clear, as this is a nature reserve.
The Loggerhead Turtle, which is endangered uses this as a natural breeding area because it is such gentle slopes to the beaches.
These Magnificent creatures can be seen here from May to July, and measure approx 1m across when adult. Take a boat to see them, maybe you will even see the wild dolphins on your trip.
The town of Laganas is not very big, it has a main street about 1 Km long lined with bars, restaurants and shops.
At night it really comes to life, many bars have karaoke, and english TV. There are some nightclubs and it can get quite loud and lively.
during the day and early evening it is quite relaxed though. The airport is very close, but due to the island being small flights are not so frequent to cause annoyance, and the flights stop at night, as they fly out over the bay that is the turtle breeding ground.
all in all, this place makes a great holiday, for couples, families or older people to visit.
