Those who enjoy Thomas Kinkade’s paintings are sure to enjoy the Thomas Kinkade Mountain Chapel counted cross stitch pattern, available through Candamar Designs, Inc. This is one in a series of the famous paintings that have been made into a counted cross stitch pattern.
Kinkade, known as the “Painter of Light,” has completed almost 70 different paintings. Most of his paintings are pictures of buildings - homes, lighthouses, cityscapes - and the elements of light are major components. It appears that the lights are actually shining through the windows, which is similar to the works done by a nineteenth century painters known as the Luminists. Kinkade’s paintings are so popular; they are reproduced in a variety of forms - puzzles, calendars, collector plates, and prints.
In addition to Thomas Kinkade’s “Mountain Chapel” he has several other paintings that have been transferred to counted cross stitch patterns including:
* “Moonlit Village”
* “Forest Chapel”
* “Everett’s Cottage”
* “Stepping Stone Cottage”
* “Stone Hearth Hutch”
Kinkade’s patterns are also available in stamped cross stitch and embellished cross stitch patterns. The Kinkade based patterns can be difficult to find in a “bricks and mortar” building. You’ll have much better luck at JoAnns.com. The patterns may be available at the physical Joann’s stores, but you can easily order them online with a trusted secure server.
When you finally get the pattern, be sure to follow the instructions for choosing threads, if they don’t come with the kit. You will want to use the thread that they recommend, to get the best results. If the kit does come with the thread, you shouldn’t have any problems recreating the painting in the closest possible way.
Do not expect to finish your project overnight, however. These kits are not for the light hearted. It takes time to stitch all that detail.
The Thomas Kinkade Mountain Chapel counted cross stitch pattern is one with great detail and may be one of the more challenging projects you have done. Enjoy the time you invest into your art piece. It will become a cherished family momento for years to come. After you pat yourself on the back for completing your Kinkade masterpiece, you will find it difficult to wait to get your next Kinkade cross stitch kit.
