A two way radio is a gadget that transmits and receives voice signals through the air. With 2 way radios, two or more people can have a conversation no matter where they are, sometimes while they are miles apart! Another common name for a 2 way radio is a “walkie talkie”.

There are two types of 2 way radios available today. The first operates on Family Radio Service (FRS) while the other one operates on General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS). FRS radios are for personal use and are quite inexpensive. If the weather is favorable, it can transmit signals up to a maximum distance of 2 miles. On the other hand, GMRS radios are more expensive than FRS, and can transmit signals to a maximum distance of up to 10 miles.

There are many good uses for a 2 way radio, but they can come in handy especially on family vacations or outings. Have you ever taken a trip to the mall, an amusement park, or a ski trip and somehow got separated from your companions? A two way radio would have been very helpful to locate one another and it would also be a great means of communication between vehicles when taking more than one car on a road trip.

Also, 2 way radios have added good value to businesses as they serve as an easy and cost-effective method for enhancing their communication systems. So, operational costs continue to decrease, and productivity is an added bonus. Communicating between office departments and field executives is an important function of these radios. With faster response time, projects and assignments can be tracked and executed in a more efficient way.

Policemen and army personnel also extensively use two way radios.  They mostly use them during patrolling. In fact, 2 way radios have been used in the police and the armed forces even before they became popular as a commonly used communication devices.

Construction sites are one of the places where way radio 2 is frequently used. Restaurants, government offices, and hospitals are some of the other places where people can stay connected with each other with the help of these radios. Theaters, manufacturing areas, and campuses also witness large-scale use of these 2 way radios. They are also used in all these outdoor activities: hunting, skiing, diving, driving, and biking.

However, two way radios cover only a specific area, but the good thing about the radios is that they are much cheaper than their counterparts. Furthermore, they remain active in certain places like dense forests where mobile phones have no network.

It is extremely essential to keep in touch with your family, friends and employees. With a two way radio, you’ll be provided with wireless connectivity and you’ll be in touch with others even when you are moving from here to there.
