What’s an Apple iPhone you ask?  Hmmm ... where have you been?  Since the iPhone’s release at the end of July, 2007, you can’t go anywhere without hearing about or seeing the iPhone.  News stories are plentiful because the incredible sales and features this amazing device has.  If you haven’t seen or heard about the iPhone here’s what the buzz is all about.

The iPhone is not just your typical cell phone, it’s multiple media devices in one.  You can not only make calls on it but you can visit the internet, you can watch widescreen movies and can listen to your favorite music because it doubles as an iPod.

These features make it not only a marvel of technology, but a convenient way to access the things that you would normally hold on multiple devices.  Instead of having to buy multiple electronic devices and carry them around with you, all you need is one iPhone.  Because of this, the iPhone is quite the cost effective product.

The fact that the iPhone has all of these features is one thing, but that’s not whole picture.  Along with all these incredible features, and how convenient it is, using an iPhone is like no other device.  Here’s what sets the iPhone apart:

1.  When you think of a typical cell phone you imagine it to have press-able buttons which allow you to dial your call.  Not the iPhone.  It has no buttons.  It’s just has a smooth, black top surface.  So how do you dial in numbers?  Well, as you touch the screen, the iPhone awakens.  On its screen appears big, colorful graphical buttons representing the keypad.  Because the buttons are so big, it makes dialing a call a breeze.

2.  Now after you’ve made few calls, you’ll probably want to go onto the internet.  Other phones have this ability as well but instead of bringing up mobile pages that some websites have created to accommodate cellular devices, the iPhone actually allows you to see the real internet exactly as you would see it on your home computer.  This makes viewing websites truly incredible and convenient.

3.  The iPhone also displays widescreen movies.  After you load some hit movies from the iTunes store on your iPhone, you simply click on the movie you want to watch and it starts to play.  Because the unit is a rectangular shape and the whole screen is the viewing area, the movie plays in a fulls screen view.

4.  The iPhone also is also a music player.  With the large hard drive on board it can hold thousands of your favorite songs by your favorite artists.  Simple touch on the music section and choose the artist.  Another click and you’re ready to start listening.

So what are these goodies and conveniences going to cost you?  Well, when the iPhone was first released, it was priced at $500-$600.  After understanding the market, Apple quickly dropped the price on its 8 gigabyte version to a mere $399, making it more affordable to the masses.  If this is a little much for your wallet, you can get a little better deal on a used iPhone but don’t think your going to steal it.  iPhones are so hot right now that even a used one is going to cost you over $300.

After you receive your shiny new toy, you’ll also need a monthly plan with a cellular phone company.  Right now, the iPhone has an exclusive with AT&T with plans starting at $59.99 per month.  Finally, if you have a few extra dollars, you may want to get a few iphone extras and accessories.  Cases, headsets, adapter cables and docking stations are popular add ons.

Now that you know a little more about the iPhone, go check one out to see for yourself how amazing it is.  Although it will set you back a little money, you can’t forget you’re really getting multiple devices in one.
